The Via Solaris, installed outside of Stalker Hall, is a manifestation of the connections between arts and science; there is no distinction in their deepest muse or motives. Via Solaris is both a scultpture and an observational tools. Its stylus points to Solar North and aligns twice annually to signam the equinox, the moment when the length of the day and night are of equal duration. Charting the sky has long been a part of human civilization. Books like The Young Gentleman and Lady's Astronomy and Sun, Moon and Stars collect and interprest our ages of star gazing.
