Greetings from Asia postcard space

Asia has always been fascinating in western minds, even as far back as 1671 when François Caron was reporting on the customs, finances, state of the Japanese and Siamese kingdoms.  Perhaps it was because of the fine silks and spices that were so precious, or the isolation of Asian lands that made it so mysterious and interesting. Today, Asian countries still hold a fascination for many people who want to learn more about traditional elements of Asian culture like Thai dancing or Japanese religious ceremonies like those pictured in Illustrated Travels. Some also flock to see landmarks like the Great Wall of China, Mount Everest, the Taj Mahal and countless other attractions.
