Football culture at ISU

Football players enter stadium, running past Sparkettes

From ISU footballs humble beginning on Thanksgiving Day, 1894, to the present, the sport has grown to become an important part of ISU tradition and history.

Football is important to most Universities, and ISU is no exception.  Many of the well known traditions and groups on campus developed from and became associated with football.  Fans, cheerleaders, ISU's Sparkettes, tailgating, the ISU Marching Band, and the more recent Forest, all become a part of the spectale and culture of ISU sports, including football.  At the same time important traditions rooted in ISU football such as Homecoming and the Victory Bell, will forever be linked to the sport.
