Supporting the Fighting Sycamores!`
Attending a sporting event, one cannot imagine it without the boisterous crowds, the pep or marching band’s tunes, the Sparkettes’ entertainment, or the Cheer team’s ability to rev up the crowd. There is a lot more to ISU athletics than the men and women in the fields or courts. The bands, dancers, Cheerleaders, and people in the bleachers are as much a part of the games as the players. And many of these groups do not take their job lightly-with cheer, marching band, and Sparkette teams that practice not just for ISU games, but for competitions and honors, with the Cheer team winning the National Collegiate Cheerleading Championship in 1980, the Marching Sycamores playing at professional Football game half-time shows in the 1970s, and the Sparkettes performing at a professional Basketball game and Disney World in the 1980s. So wear your blue, cheer on with the Cheer team, scream in the bleachers, sing with the band, and dance along with the Sparkettes ISU.
