Student talking on phone in dorm room

Changing technology altered entertainment in the Residence Halls.  While cards, Hall events and competitions, reading, and other social and non-social activities provided early entertainment, technology provided access to enterainment in community settings, and eventually their own rooms.

Telephones, televisions, computers, and the internet were commonly found only in shared areas of Residence Halls.  Eventually technology allowed students to talk on the phone and watch TV in their own rooms, and presently anywhere with smart phones.  Changing to these new demands, telephone, cable, internet, and eventually wifi has been integrated in buildings and invidual rooms.
